Queensland’s Waste Strategy
Less Landfill, More Recycling
The Queensland Government recently engaged the public to provide feedback on it’s new strategy for waste management across the state.
My ambition for this project was to create a look and feel that felt approachable and warm yet trustworthy, and to liven up a subject that could be perceived as dry.
I started by drawing some illustrations in marker, with the intention of bringing some character and energy to the piece. Engaging the public was the primary goal, so the shapes were organic and imperfect.
The use of a vibrant, eco-inspired palette (verdant, earth and lime tones) makes a visual connection to sustainability and optimism, while placing photography of real people front and centre grounded the creative in authenticity.
For paid social assets, I created a suite of tiles which featured compelling
call-to-action phrases and mockups which mimicked user interaction with the consultation platform—driving digital submissions during the campaign’s critical engagement phase.
