I’m Karen.

I’m a senior designer originally from Scotland, who now calls Brisbane home. I’m very proud to be a permanent resident of beautiful, sunny Queensland. There are but three keys to my heart - tropical sea coral, 70’s “dad rock” and an afternoon at the bowlo with friends.

I’m a confident and effective communicator who gets things done while effortlessly building lasting professional relationships. I bring an optimistic and approachable energy to any team or organisation that I’m a part of, which allows me to quickly integrate into a workplace and have a positive influence on others.

Over the last 12+ years, executing and managing multiple creative projects simultaneously has become second nature to me. I can confidently scope and plan work from design brief or ideation stage, develop concepts, present work, produce beautiful creative, manage approvals and seek
buy-in where necessary.

I’ve been working in the Adobe Creative Suite almost since 2009, so I’m lightning fast on the tools and feel very at home in that eco-system.

Vector work is my speciality, and my Wacom tablet and pen are permanently attached to my hand.

I’m keen to put my design skills to good use and create positive change in the world. It’s important to me that I use my privilege to lift the voices of others - especially when it comes to communicating messages of important environmental and social issues. I’m super passionate about raising awareness of worsening climate change, social injustice, bio-diversity loss, gender inequality, Indigenous issues, women’s rights and social mobility, and would love to take on more work in these fields.
